A very satisfied cruise customer writes: “Our Caribbean cruise with the kids was great. We flew to Fort Lauderdale and set sail on a beautiful ship (Independence of The Seas) for The Cayman Islands, A Private Beach of Royal Caribbean’s, Labadee and enjoyed Jamaica Mon. We snorkeled at different and gorgeous beaches every day, we swam with stingrays in Sting Ray City, and we relaxed at sea every single afternoon.”
Who was this happy sailor? Me! My husband and I have enjoyed a variety of cruises over the last few years, but my son and daughter, had not been on a cruise ship as glorious as Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas! They had an absolutely amazing time. Every morning, they checked out the special activities designed for each of their age groups, chose the ones they liked, ignored the rest, hung out with us during the day from time to time, and sampled the myriad offerings at night. One night it was a scavenger hunt all over the ship; another night was Teen Karaoke for the 15-17 year olds. Trivia contests, casino nights, and a special hang-out just for them created an atmosphere that was both welcoming and casual.
Meanwhile, Zack and I enjoyed a nice cold beverage while the sun set slowly over the beautiful blue ocean, relaxed on a lounge chair on the top deck, made choices about what excursions to consider for each “tomorrow”, and savored the memories of that day’s tons of fun in the sun.
Swimming with the stingrays in The Caymans was a definite highlight for all of us. A sandbar puts you face to face with these gentle, mysterious creatures and before I knew it, I was holding one in my hands, while someone snapped a great picture. Yes, I kissed a stingray for good luck too!
I’d have to say that a perfect beach and great snorkeling in The Caymans was a surprising highlight, while the incredible lush, tropical landscape in Labadee on a gorgeous private island will be an enduring image to me for years to come.
Our fabulous cruise convinced both of us that we'll want to return for another cruise vacation again in the future...and perhaps this one take without the kids!
All in all, we all had such fun!
