(Der EI cannot believe it, my dream of over 17 years had come true!! I finally arrived in Frankfurt, Germany after a super long flight from Raleigh, NC. I couldn't get comfortable on the plane, tossing and turning and not able to rest. Plus, I was super excited about my trip!!!
I sat next to a young, nice German guy on the plane who shared his travel time in LA, with me. He was in LA to have a vacation with his brother and his girlfriend. He mentioned his brother was working in LA, and loved the face paced lifestyle it offered him. We spoke in German and English (I was practicing my German speaking) and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation.
What seemed like FOREVER, I finally departed the plane, found my bags at baggage claim and then located my parents near the car rental area of the airport. I couldn't believe I was finally there, all around me was the German language, signs, speaking, etc. and it was truly exhilarating to me!!! After over 17 years of dreams and prayers of getting back there, I had arrived!
Once we got into the rental car, we stopped at a quaint little rest stop for a snack and the BEST Cappuccino I have had in years!!
So far it was a super wonderful day. We drove around a little bit, got situated at our hotel, enjoyed a drink and then headed to the most awesome restaurant ever Der Kartoffel. This small town was outside of Heidelberg, Germany, and we were able to cook our own steaks on a rock right at our table! It tasted so yummy (with super huge baked potatoes to go with the steak). This restaurant was from the mid 1600's.
We headed back to our hotel to get some much needed rest! I was absolutely exhausted from the journey to Germany.
I have to say, the 2 weeks flew, what an amazing trip it was full of sooo many precious memories I'll cherish for a lifetime!!
