![]() How important is the location of a cabin on a cruise ship? So Very Important. There are numerous factors involved in choosing the right cabin. The most obvious pitfall to avoid if you’ve never cruised before is choosing Inside or Outside. Inside is just fine for value and for your very first cruise. However, if you are at all claustrophobic, you should choose an outside cabin. Having a window can make all the difference in the world. And to have a balcony, so worth the splurge! What better place to enjoy your quiet cup of coffee on your own balcony or toast to another fabulous Caribbean sunset! Other important details to keep in mind: is the cabin Mid-ship, Forward or Aft? Mid-ship is the most desirable location, although forward and aft have their compensations. Forward does tend to get the most motion, but if you’ve got some extra “resources”, you can choose a cabin with a terrace and a Jacuzzi facing out to the sea ahead of you. Similarly, the cabins at the rear of the boat can also have larger-sized terraces, with views of the sea and horizon behind you. There is usually a nice café at the rear of the boat to capture that same gorgeous view, but getting a private piece of it can be a worthwhile investment. One other consideration is whether your cabin is going to be noisy. Are you right underneath the band? The last cabin next to the super busy centrum? Right underneath the overhang? Everyone’s preferences can be quite different and there are trade-offs for everything. These are the very kinds of questions that I can help answer when you’re ready to book.
