We woke up at the hotel and enjoyed a fabulous German Breakfast downstairs. Then (as excited as I could be) we dressed and got ready for our day in Heidelberg, Germany!! We arrived at the Hauptstrasse (which was a flurry of activity) and enjoyed simply walking around admiring the wonderful shops, great cafes and lots of other tourists enjoying the surroundings. It had started out as a gray, dreary and rainy day, but quickly cleared up and the sun made a glorious appearance!! We were able to see the Heidelberg Castle at a distance and walked on the Alte Brucke. We had yummy German coffee with a slice of apple pie (Apfelkuchen) and black forest cherry cake (Schwartzwaldkuchen) at Confiserie- Café Schafheutle in Heidelberg (downtown) with the most beautiful "solarium" with a gorgeous outside garden café spot and don't forget the Reisling!
For an evening snack, we stopped in Neckarsteinach (on the Neckar River) for pommes (French fries) and Bier (stein of Beer). There were 3 gorgeous castles in our background, what a fabulous stop with a gorgeous view!
That night we enjoyed Schnizle (pork chops battered and golden fried) with Spaetzle (Bavarian Style Noodles) and it was so yummy and authentic. This is my most favorite German Meal! Dinner was at the Goldener Hirsch.
We walked a ton and it was such a beautiful day! I was able to take some wonderful pictures! At one point that evening it rained where we stopped for a nice drink, but then it cooled down a bit and was a nice night to be walking around town. We stopped at Perkeo for a drink, to relax for a bit and people watch.
This was one of my most memorable days in Germany! It was a dream come true for me!
