The Right Questions to Ask About a Hotel!
We all expect to stay in clean, well-maintained hotels, but many of us don't ask the right questions when booking. Before you give up your credit card info, there are a couple of questions you should ask - such as:
1. How old is the hotel?
2. When was it last renovated?
3. Is there any construction currently?
4. Are there any festivals or holidays that may impact my potential stay?
5. Is the room you are assigning me near a utility room, A/C vents or elevator?
Even though the hotel may be a brand you like or really love, it's worth checking!

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Fussen and then Frankfurt!
We all met Bev and Randy for breakfast at the lovely buffet from The Edelweiss Lodge and Resort's Restaurant and said our "goodbyes". What an amazing place the hotel was.
Then we headed to my most favorite castle of all, Neuschwanstein Castle in Fussen, Germany. One word: AMAZING!! The Neuschwanstein Castle is incredible!
It brought back such fond memories, wow I love this place! The crowds were super crazy as it was a holiday in Germany...so we didn't do the tour, just walked around a bit, enjoyed some coffee at the foot of the castle, checked out the souvenir shops where I purchased a poster of the Neuschwanstein Castle, and took tons of pictures.
Then it was time to head to Frankfurt where we arrived at the hotel right at the airport (the Hilton), enjoyed the executive lounge for drinks and snacks.
I cannot believe that our 2 weeks in Germany flew by. Such wonderful memories I will treasure for a lifetime! Take me back!!!!!

Garmisch is one of those kinds of places you could stop in and never leave!
We ate a yummy breakfast at Starbucks, then Bev took us downtown to shop and purchase some more lovely souvenirs. It was a foggy day at the Zugspitze, so we couldn't quite get a wonderful picture or see the top but that's okay, it was beautiful just the same. We headed downtown with the gorgeous alps in the background. Talk about pretty and peaceful! After we shopped, and snacked and walked, we came back to met the guys to eat at a traditional Garmisch German restaurant, with wonderful music, little dancing young boys and so very good German food.

Grafenwohr, Munchen then Garmisch, Germany!
This morning we woke up, headed to the PX and then the thrift store, then the guys were ready to head out. So, we headed towards Munich (Munchen) to check out the REAL OKTOBERFEST!
Well, it was fun too! So many were dressed in their lederhosen and dirndl's (Randy and Bev were and they looked absolutely fabulous!) in the crowds. It's not as wild and crazy as the Volksfest in Bad was. We stayed for a few hours at the Oktoberfest (I can imagine at night and the weekends it's a bit more crazy) had a beer, a pretzel then walked around. I spoke for a bit to some locals who were having the time of their lives. We didn't stay long, but had a real blast while we were there at OKTOBERFEST!!
Then we drove for another hour or so and headed down to the absolutely gorgeous area of Garmisch!! WOW, this must be one of my most favorite places in the world. Everywhere you looked, it was like a postcard! Even though we arrived at night, it was beautiful and I can't wait to check it out in the morning!
We checked into the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort and it was such a beautiful hotel! What a gorgeous setting for a resort in Germany!
What another unbelievable day in Germany!!
Some great pictures taken of some wonderful people at Oktoberfest!
Another fabulous day!
We went to a small/local church where we met the sweetest lady! She told us she was 89 years old and briefly shared her personal story of being displaced by the war when she was studying at the university in Wurzburg, Germany. She said Wurzburg was heavily bombed during the war, so she moved to this area to be a school teacher with her husband. What a powerful story!! She was so warm and welcoming, truly a nice German woman who enjoyed sharing her country, her church and her personal story with us. I hated to leave her, what a powerful story she had...it seemed like she wanted us to stay a bit longer to chat as well. I wish I would have had a picture taken with her. Such a sweet-kindred soul!
After our lovely detour, we headed to Weiden for a little bit of shopping and a yummy lunch. Back again tonight to the Italian restaurant (since it was so good last night) for another super nice meal. I had goulash suppe and rigatoni with shrimp. Yummy! Such wonderful food can be had all over Germany!
Breakfast was some yummy brotchen along with dark and rich, German coffee.
Today we headed down to Stuttgart (with our new, dear friend Bev) to see a large park , that was located just outside the zoo. It was quiet, peaceful and so very tranquil.
Then we headed down to the hauptstrasse and ate some super wonderful doner kebobs at a little eatery. Bev was taking Mom and I all over town showing us really neat places to visit. We enjoyed hanging with Bev and were so thankful she was able to show us the sites. It was time to meet the men and head to Grafenwoehr, Germany.
We loaded up our things, and jet-setted down to Grafenwoehr where we would be staying for the next 2 nights. We found our hotel, got settled in and then headed down into Grafenwoehr to a neat little Italian eatery, where I had one of the best Jaegerschnitzels thus far! YUMMY!
Stuttgart and then off to Boblingen, Germany!
Today was a relaxing day, we slept in a bit, got some much needed laundry done, then sat outside (it was gorgeous weather...in the 70's) and had a little wine and simply enjoyed the beautiful day!
We headed to the PX's food court, where we ate a quick lunch and hung out.
We met Kevin's work buddy for dinner at a nice restaurant overlooking a beautiful lake in Boblingen, Germany. I ordered the pork medallions, with sour cream sauce and spaetzle (Bavarian style noodles). It was absolutely Yummy!! We were able to eat outside as is was a crisp, beautiful evening.
Did I mention I am soo blessed to be here in Germany!
Oktoberfest in Bad Caanstadt, Germany!
Today we headed to the PX to pick up a few things, then it was off, on the train to the fest! We finally found the right train, with some help from a friendly German, then we arrived to the festival. OKTOBERFEST (Bad Caanstadt style)- What a site it was! Lots of fun had by all, so many people (mostly dressed in their dirndl's and lederhosen) having a blast. There was yummy food smells, beer tents, rides, music and people all over. If you've never experienced Oktoberfest, you need to see it once in your life!
We finally found a seat in one of the tents, and Mom was quickly initiated into the crowd with some beer spilled on her backside! We enjoyed the tent, loud music, people everywhere, and fun-fun-fun!
Here is a picture of a friendly German man we met at the beer tent, who introduced himself and we all chatted briefly with him.
Check out the ginormous beer tents!
